The Remote Worker’s Guide to Miami: Quiet Coffee Shops, Strong Wi-Fi, and the Best Power Lunches
Working remotely from Miami doesn’t mean spending the day staring at your laptop in a hotel room while the pulse of the city carries on outside. Slip into a café for a focused morning, meet with clients over a fantastic lunch, take an afternoon call in the sun, and still be back by Biscayne Bay as soon as quitting time rolls around.
The Elser Hotel puts you in Downtown Miami with Brickell just to the south. Our residential-style suites also come with full kitchens, washers and dryers, and in-room Wi-Fi, which matters when your hotel needs to function as more than just a place to sleep.
If you’re coming to Miami to work remotely, here’s how to make the most of it.

What Remote Workers Actually Need in Miami
A good cup of coffee helps. It isn’t enough.
For a work session that lasts longer than an email or two, look for:
- Reliable Wi-Fi: Especially important for video calls, cloud-based work, and large file transfers.
- Accessible outlets: A beautiful café becomes much less useful at 14% battery.
- Comfortable seating: Counter stools are fine for a quick email check. For a longer work block, supportive seating matters.
- Manageable noise: Quiet isn’t exactly a word we’d use to describe Miami, but early mornings are generally your best bet when concentration matters.
- Food nearby: If you’re staying for several hours, being able to order breakfast or lunch to fuel the creativity is useful.
- A laptop-friendly café: Some cafés genuinely welcome people settling in to work. Others are better treated as coffee stops.
- Transportation: Downtown and Brickell are connected by Metromover, Miami-Dade’s free automated transit system.
- A reliable spot for important meetings: Leading a presentation or important client call? Don’t gamble on a café. Take it from your suite or arrange a proper meeting space.
Best Coffee Shops to Work From in Miami Near Downtown and Brickell
There are plenty of great cafés near downtown and Brickell, but here are five we regularly recommend to remote workers staying at The Elser.
Puroast Coffeehouse
Best for: A full morning of focused work
Where: 632 S Miami Ave
Puroast is well known for being accommodating to remote workers. They have reliable Wi-Fi, plenty of outlets throughout the space, and a setup intended for people who want to stay and work. If you want to grab a spot here, come early. Before 9 a.m. is the better window if getting your preferred seat matters.
And for the order? Start with the house Coffeehouse Blend and an order of avocado toast.
i think she is
Best for: Focused work in Brickell without the corporate feel
Where: 169 SW 7th St
Brickell rarely gets described as calm, which is part of what makes i think she is useful. The café sits on the northern edge of the neighborhood and has a reputation as a good place for getting work done.
It’s a smaller space than some of the alternatives here, so we’d choose it earlier in the day rather than assuming you can claim a table for an entire afternoon.
Coffee is the main reason to come, but the menu goes well beyond pastries, offering toast, açaí bowls, salads, and breakfast options.
Crema Gourmet Brickell
Best for: Working through breakfast or turning a work session into a casual meeting
Where: 1010 Brickell Ave
Crema is less about hiding in a corner with headphones and more about having everything you need in one place. Their Brickell location offers free Wi-Fi, power outlets, laptop-friendly seating, meeting-friendly spaces, and all-day breakfast.
That makes it a sensible choice when your morning includes solo work and conversations with colleagues. Plus, it’s open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, giving you a much longer window to work if you’re staying into the evening.
Vice City Bean
Best for: Coffee first, laptop second
Where: 1111 Brickell Ave, with another café at 1657 N Miami Ave
Vice City Bean is one of Miami’s better-known names in the world of coffee. Their Brickell location sits inside Sabadell Financial at 1111 Brickell Ave. It’s a space we’d choose for a quick round of emails, notes before a meeting, or a coffee between appointments. If you want to camp out for several hours, their larger North Miami Avenue café is the better choice.
Bobe Kitchen & Bakery
Best for: A longer Downtown work session
Where: 236 NE 4th St
Bobe is one of the better options when you want to stay in Downtown Miami rather than head straight to Brickell. They have reliable Wi-Fi, outlets throughout the café, and it’s not too noisy, making it well-suited to longer laptop sessions and calls.
The café also serves breakfast, coffee, bakery items, and more substantial lunch dishes, so you can stay through a full morning without having to relocate as soon as you get hungry.
Pick Your Miami Workspace by Task
If you don’t want to compare five menus before your first coffee, use the job at hand to make the decision.
A Cafecito Is a Better Miami Coffee Break
If your workday in Miami involves only cold brew and cappuccinos, you’re missing an important part of the local coffee vocabulary.
A cafecito, or café cubano, is a small, intensely strong espresso sweetened as it brews. It’s commonly ordered at Cuban restaurants, cafeterias, and ventanitas, the walk-up coffee windows that are part of daily life across Miami. For remote workers, it’s a distinctly local alternative to the usual coffee break between calls.
Remote-Work Etiquette in Miami Coffee Shops
Most cafés are happy to see laptops. That doesn’t make a $5 coffee an eight-hour desk rental.
A few rules keep the arrangement fair:
- Order as you go, especially if you’re staying through more than one meal period.
- Don’t occupy a four-person table by yourself during the lunch rush.
- Use headphones, especially for calls.
- Keep your meeting volume lower than you think it is.
- Don’t assume every outlet is available or every café allows laptops indefinitely.
- Have a backup location for anything you absolutely can’t miss.
Where to Have a Power Lunch in Downtown Miami and Brickell
A café is fine for an informal catch-up, but when the meeting involves a client, a longer conversation, or somebody you’re hoping to impress, book a table.
Bayview Terrace
Best for: A lunch meeting without leaving The Elser
For a workday that’s already based at The Elser, Bayview Terrace is the most convenient lunch option on this list. The rooftop restaurant serves lunch daily from noon, with open-air seating overlooking Biscayne Bay and the Downtown skyline.
It makes the most sense for a relaxed client lunch, a team catch-up, or a midday meeting when you’d rather not build extra travel time into the day. After lunch, you can head back to your suite for calls or focused work without having to cross Downtown.
Zuma Miami
Best for: A polished client lunch with a firm end time
Zuma sits on the Miami River at 270 Biscayne Boulevard Way and runs a weekday lunch service Monday through Friday from noon to 3 p.m. Lunch here is designed for relatively swift service, which is useful when a meeting still needs to fit into a workday.
Novikov Miami
Best for: A more formal Downtown business lunch
At 300 S Biscayne Blvd, Novikov is a polished Downtown option for client lunches and more formal business meetings. Its business lunch is currently served Monday through Friday from noon to 3 p.m., with tables limited to groups of six for that menu. Smart casual dress is requested.
Motek Brickell
Best for: A more relaxed team or networking lunch
Not every business meal needs white-tablecloth energy. Motek’s Brickell location on the fourth floor of Brickell City Centre has indoor and outdoor dining, communal tables, and semi-private spaces. It’s a better fit for a team catch-up, creative meeting, or lunch with someone you already know well than for a highly formal pitch. The menu’s Eastern Mediterranean direction also gives it a distinct identity among Brickell’s business-dining standards.
How to Structure a Remote Workday in Miami
A remote workday in Miami is easier when you build around geography rather than trying to squeeze the city around your calendar.
Morning: Start with your most focused work at a café in Downtown or Brickell, ideally before the late-morning crowd arrives.
Midday: Schedule client or team meetings over lunch, especially if you’re already in the Brickell or Downtown business district.
Afternoon: Take important calls somewhere private and dependable. At The Elser, one-bedroom suites offer separate living space, while dedicated meeting venues are available when you need something more formal.
After work: Head upstairs to the rooftop pool, yoga deck, or Bayview Terrace, or step back into Downtown once the laptop is closed.
Getting Between Downtown Miami and Brickell
Downtown and Brickell are close enough to treat as one workday zone, but Miami heat has a way of making a reasonable walk less appealing by 2 p.m.
The Metromover is a useful shortcut. It’s free, operates through Downtown, Brickell, and Omni, and runs seven days a week from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
That makes it practical to start from The Elser in Downtown, head into Brickell for coffee or lunch, and return to wrap up the workday.
Why The Elser Works for a Miami Workcation
A workcation is much easier when your hotel can handle both sides of the trip.
At The Elser, studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites include full kitchens and in-room washers/dryers, and Wi-Fi is available in each suite. One-bedroom suites add separate living space, giving you somewhere to work that isn’t the edge of the bed.
When meetings require something more formal, The Elser also offers dedicated event and meeting spaces with high-speed Wi-Fi, AV technology, and breakout options.
More importantly, Downtown Miami is outside the door. Brickell is a short trip south, Biscayne Bay is in view, and when work is done, the rooftop pool, Bayview Terrace, fitness complex, and the rest of the city are waiting.
Give your out-of-office hours somewhere worth going.
